Biography

Sydney William MEREDITH was born on 9 June 1879 in Southfield, Co. Laois, IrelandG. He married Marjorie Winifred HOLMES on 26 March 1940 in St Paul’s Church, GlenagearyG.1 He died on 6 January 1957, at age 77, in 2 Wynnsward Park, Clonskeagh, DublinG.
Sydney William Meredith was living at Richview, Clonskea at the time of his marriage in 1940 to Marjorie Holmes.

His obituary appeared in the Irish Times as follows:
“The death occurred yesterday at his home, 2, Wynnsward Park, Clonskeagh, Dublin, of Mr. Sydney W. Meredith. He was 77 years old. He was born in Ballintubber, Co. Leix. On leaving school, he went to Dublin where he studied first in the old Royal University and later in Trinity College, graduating in 1907. While attending college, he taught for a while in Wexford and later in Kilkenny.
In 1907, Mr. Meredith joined the staff of Masonic Boys' School. As a French teacher he spent the rest of his career in the school, retiring in 1954 after 47 years' service. For scores of former pupils he was a link with their schooldays, and for many years he was president of the Past Pupils' Association. He was also a well-known and active member of the Masonic Order.
Mr. Meredith was a keen walker and climber. He was also for many years a member of Milltown Golf Club. He was a proficient woodworker and gardener.
He is survived by his widow and two step-sons.”.2

Robert William DEVERELL was born about 1838. He married Charlotte WILKINSON on 21 March 1871 in Coolbanagher ChurchG.1 He died on 10 December 1878, at age ~40, in Raheen, Co. Laois, IrelandG.2 He was buried in Dunamaise, Co. LaoisG.
Robert William Deverell was described as the eldest surviving son of the late William Deverell of Ballycarroll and Raheen in his marriage announcement in 1871. His death certificate records his age as 40 years in 1878. The transcriptions of his age on his headstone at Dunamaise are incorrect.3,2,4,5

Biography

Richard Christopher KINGSTON was born on 13 December 1900 in Drimoleague, Co. CorkG. He married Frances Anne HIGGINS, daughter of Joseph Thomas HIGGINS and Anne FRENCH, on 23 June 1926 in North Strand Church, DublinG.2 Richard Christopher KINGSTON married Annie Florence REID on 27 October 1945 in St John The Baptist, Clontarf, DublinG.3 He died on 10 December 1974, at age 73, in Isle Of ManG.4
Richard Christopher Kingston was the son of Paul Kingston and Thomasina neé Kingston. He joined the Dublin Metropolitan Police in April 1919. He was a Station Sergeant in 1941, and retired as a Superintendant of the Garda Siochana, having been promoted from Inspector in 1944. His 2nd marriage was to the widow of his 1st wife’s brother. He was living at 74 Lakeside Drive, Onchan, Isle of Man at the time of his death in 1974.4
