• Note: Record difficult to read--not sure if April or May, and not sure if Edward Daniel is one child, or if there were twins, Edward and Daniel? The 1832 Tithes Applotments show an Edward Hegarty/Hagarty holding land in both Clancoole (4 acres) and East Gully (3 acres), Ballymodan parish. Possibly this Edward? May or may not be the Edward who married Ellen Lannin in Skibbereen and later lived in Bandon? See separate listing.

Marmaduke Brangan

• Note: Marmaduke was a "tradesman" in 1851, probably living on Castle Road, Bandon. In the 1834 Protestant census of Ballymodan parish we find Sally Mangan and her nephews Edward and Richard Brangan and niece Sally Hegarty, living at 10 Castle Road, Bandon. At 39 Castle Road [these numbers appear to be a household number, rather than an address as we know it today] are Marmaduke Brangan, wife Mary, daughter Ja. . and 11 year-old Marmaduke "BS" [appears to indicate attending the Protestant Boys School]. There are other Brangan families also listed in that census:
  Marriage registration for Richard Brangan in Dublin in 1846 indicates his father, Marmaduke, was a shoemaker.

• Note: I think this is likely the Kate Hagerty, unmarried, who was living with her unmarried brother George on Castle Road, Bandon in both 1901 and 1911. Kate was 42 in 1901 and 52 in 1911; her occupation was shopkeeper. For religion they noted "Christian" in 1901, but left it blank in 1911. Possibly the "Kate Hagarty" of Meelin House, Bandon, who was buried 7 Jun 1939, aged 80.

Rebecca Hagerty

• Note: The only other record I can find for a Rebecca is Rebecca Hegarty, married Patrick Dowling, two children Elizabeth "Doolan" born 18 Apr 1865, and Michael Dowling born 30 Oct 1867, both registered Cork district. Dates suggest this is not possible; death registration for Rebecca Dowling, Cork district, Q2 1898, age 47 is likely her. No Rebeccas in either 1901 or 1911 in Cork, except the eldest daughter of Michael Dowling. It should also be noted that the baptism was in the Church of Ireland whereas the Dowling family was Catholic.

  Registrations for Daniels in Bandon district include: 1808-1888; a marriage in 1845; a child who lived only from 1874-1876, and births in 1882, 1924 and 1927.

  A search of the 1851 census shows the most logical match to be: William age 58, grocer, born Nottinghamshire; Eliza age 31, EXCEPT she is said to be born in Hackney, Middlesex, England? However, in 1861 she is said to be born in Ireland.
• Note: William Hickman; Name on the marriage register when she married Wm Hickman was "Eliza Bennett Haggarty." witnesses were John Heagerty and Sarah Haggerty. Marmaduke's occupation "Dead."
• Note: Nathaniel Longmore; Eliza was a widow, Nathaniel a bachelor when they married. Eliza's father, Marmaduke Haggarty, was a Wesleyan Minister.
