Anne French was the mother of the Irish poet F.R. Higgins. She was described as a Dressmaker on her marriage certificate of 1895.
She was enumerated in the 1911 Ireland census at 20 Clarence Street North, Dublin, and was recorded as having had 6 children by that date, with 5 still living.¹ Anne FRENCH was born on 20 May 1873 at Moyrus, Co. Galway, Ireland.² She was the daughter of Robert FRENCH and Eliza McKEE. Anne FRENCH married Joseph Thomas HIGGINS, son of Frederick HIGGINS and Frances Anne MOONEY, on 8 September 1895 at Chistchurch, Clifden, Co. Galway; witnesses Robert French, William Elliott Higgins.³ Anne FRENCH died in 1957.⁴

     
Joseph Higgins was a Constable in the Royal Irish Constabulary, and lived at Higginsbrook, County Meath. He enlisted on 16 Aug 1882, aged 20 years and 5 months. He served in Cork E.R., Dublin, Clare, Galway W.R. and Mayo and was pensioned on 17 Aug 1909.
He was enumerated in the 1901 census as head of household at Brookville Avenue, Swineford, Co. Mayo, and described as a Constable, Royal Irish Constabulary, aged 38, born in Co. Meath. He was enumerated with his wife Annie, son Frederick R. and daughters Frances Anne and Caroline Isabella.
He was recorded in the 1911 Ireland census as the head of household at 20 Clarence Street North, Dublin and described as an R.I.C. Pensioner. He was enumerated with his wife Annie, sons Frederick R., Joseph A. and William M., and daughters Frances Anne and Emily D.E.^1,2,3,4 Joseph Thomas HIGGINS was born circa March 1862 at Co. Meath, Ireland. He was the son of Frederick HIGGINS and Frances Anne MOONEY. Joseph Thomas HIGGINS married Anne FRENCH, daughter of Robert FRENCH and Eliza McKEE, on 8 September 1895 at Chistchurch, Clifden, Co. Galway; witnesses Robert French, William Elliott Higgins.⁵ Joseph Thomas HIGGINS died on 27 July 1930 at 81 Brian Avenue, Croydon Park, Fairview, Dublin.⁶ He was buried on 29 July 1930 at Laracor churchyard, Trim, Co. Meath.⁶

     
Frederick Robert Higgins was a Poet, Playwright and managing director of the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. He was the eldest of nine children. He published four volumes of poetry: Island Blood (1925); The Dark Breed (1927); Arable Holdings (1933); and The Gap of Brightness (1940). One of his better known poems, from the last volume, is 'Father and Son'. Following his death, the Irish Times published several notices, obituaries and tributes.^2,3 Frederick Robert HIGGINS was buried at Laracor Church, Co. Meath, Ireland. He was born on 24 April 1896 at Foxford, Co. Mayo, Ireland. He was the son of Joseph Thomas HIGGINS and Anne FRENCH. Frederick Robert HIGGINS married Beatrice May MOORE, daughter of James MOORE and Elizabeth McDOWELL, on 3 August 1921.² Frederick Robert HIGGINS died on 8 January 1941 at Jervis Street Hospital, Dublin, Ireland, at age 44.³

     
Beatrice May Moore was the only daughter of James Moore and Elizabeth McDowell. She was a well-known harpist. Beatrice May MOORE was born circa 1897 at Dublin City.² She was the daughter of James MOORE and Elizabeth McDOWELL. Beatrice May MOORE married Frederick Robert HIGGINS, son of Joseph Thomas HIGGINS and Anne FRENCH, on 3 August 1921.³

     Alice HIGGINS was the daughter of Joseph Thomas HIGGINS and Anne FRENCH.
Alice Higgins is assumed to be the daughter known as ‘Dolly’ by her Barrer cousins. Alice HIGGINS died after 1993.¹

     
Richard Christopher Kingston was a Station Sergeant in 1941, and retired as a Superintendant of the Garda Siochana. He was living at 74 Lakeside Drive, Onchan, Isle of Man at the time of his death in 1974.² Richard Christopher KINGSTON married Frances Anne HIGGINS, daughter of Joseph Thomas HIGGINS and Anne FRENCH, in 1926 at Dublin North Registration District.¹ Richard Christopher KINGSTON died on 10 December 1974 at Isle Of Man.²

     Joseph Arthur HIGGINS was born circa 1903. He was the son of Joseph Thomas HIGGINS and Anne FRENCH. Joseph Arthur HIGGINS married Annie Florence REID in 1931 at Dublin North Registration District.¹ Joseph Arthur HIGGINS died in 1938.¹

The Frederick Higgins who was baptised in 1804 the son of Joseph and Anne Higgins of Higginsbrook is believed to be the same Frederick of Higginsbrook who married Frances Anne Mooney in 1855. Frederick HIGGINS was born circa 1804. He was the son of Joseph Thomas HIGGINS and Anne (?). Frederick HIGGINS was christened on 21 February 1804.² He married Frances Anne MOONEY on 13 July 1855 at St. Patrick’s, Trim, Co. Meath.^3,4 Frederick HIGGINS died in 1882.⁵

She married Frederick George Augustus HIGGINS, son of Frederick HIGGINS and Frances Anne MOONEY, circa 1888.¹

The William Higgins born in 1864, the son of Frederick Higgins and Frances Anne Mooney, is assumed to be the same person as the William Elliott Higgins who was enumerated in the 1911 Ireland census at 11 Shamrock St., Inns Quay, Dublin and described as a Railway Guard aged 45 born in Co. Meath. William Elliott Higgins was a witness to the marriage of his cousin Joseph Thomas Higgins to Annie French in 1895.^1,2 William Elliott HIGGINS was born on 12 May 1864 at Trim, Co. Meath.³ He was the son of Frederick HIGGINS and Frances Anne MOONEY. William Elliott HIGGINS married Penelope J. (?) circa 1892.¹

     Octavius Marenius HIGGINS was born circa 1825 at Higginsbrook, Trim, Co. Meath. He was the son of Joseph Thomas HIGGINS and Anne (?). Octavius Marenius HIGGINS married Ann Eliza DREANY on 14 December 1865.² Octavius Marenius HIGGINS died on 27 August 1894.
