James WILKINSON was born circa 1856 in Queen’s County, Ireland.1 He married Sarah HASLAM on 21 August 1883 in Roscrea Methodist Church; the witnesses were George Wilkinson and Rebecca Haslam.2 He died on 20 October 1915.3
James Wilkinson was the son of James Wilkinson, a farmer. He was a shop assistant living in Roscrea at the time of his marriage in 1883. He was enumerated in the 1911 census as a Grocer living at Market Square, Abbelyleix, with wife Sara, daughters Annie, Lily, Bessie and Sadie, a niece Lily Wellwood (aged 7), and a domestic servant Mary Fiztpatrick. NOTE: there is no direct evidence to prove that he was the son of James Wilkinson and Anne Meredith, although it is consistent with the Irish naming convention if it applied to the children of James and Anne.1
