Eliza Anne ‘Lizzie’ Modler travelled to New York on the S.S. Baltic in 1908, arriving on 6 June. Her destination was her sister’s residence at 611 W 114th Street, New York. She was recorded in the 1910 US census as Lizzie Modler, a maid in the household of Frank and Clara Nicholas in Manhattan. She returned from New York on the S.S. Baltic in 1912, arriving in Liverpool on 20 April. She was a witness at the marriage of her brother Edward John to Frances Watson in 1918, and was described as Lizzie Anne Modler.^2,3,4

     Robert Michael MODLER was born on 6 February 1884 in Courtmatrix, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹ He was christened on 27 February 1884 in Church of Ireland, Rathkeale, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹ He married Annie Jane WHELAN circa 1914 in Dublin South Registration District.² He died on 1 July 1916 in France at age 32.³
     
Robert Michael Modler was killed in action in France; he was a Company Sergeant-Major in the Inniskilling Fusiliers at the time.³

He emigrated from Ireland to Canada in 1913. He travelled with his sister Anna Mary from Glasgow to Halifax, Nova Scotia, on the S.S. Pretorian. He was a Farmer living at Apple Hill, Glengarry County, Ontario at the time of his marriage in 1918.

     Anna Mary MODLER was born on 25 September 1896 in Courtmatrix, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹ She was christened on 19 November 1896 in Church of Ireland, Rathkeale, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹ She married Robert Clifford LEGEAR, son of Henry LEGEAR and Rebecca TESKEY, on 11 September 1916 in St. Simon Anglican Church, Montreal; wtinesses Albert H. Modler, Ella M. Brown and Frederick G. Modler.²

She was living in Montreal at the time of her marriage in 1916. She was resident in 1944 in 79 Blake St., Barrie, Ontario, Canada.³
