     Jane Winter, daughter of Philip Winter, was born circa 1806 in Co. Limerick, Ireland. She was baptized on 9 March 1806 in Kilfinane, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹

     John Winter, son of John Winter, was born in 1765.² He is believed to have married before 1790, although the identity of his wife is not known. He died in 1839 in Fanningstown, Co. Limerick.³ He was buried on 26 August 1839 in Kilfinnane.⁴
     John Winter was a farmer.⁵ He was mentioned in papers of the Oliver family of Castle Oliver, Co Limerick, as being a tenant on their estate between 1825 and 1828.⁶ He was mentioned first in 1825 as having arrears of £4-3-0.⁷ He was mentioned in 1826 as receiving a half-year's wages of £5-5-0 for "attending to Mr Silver Oliver's Bog" due 1 May 1826.⁸ He was mentioned in 1826 as owing £3-13-10 in March 1826, with the same amount noted as having been received by Mr Riordan, and no arrears from Sept 1825. A half year's rent is recorded as £7-7-8.⁹ He was mentioned in 1827 as follows: "Old Winters and his son claims a salary - give what is due to them".^11,10 He was mentioned in 1827 as having paid £3-13-10 in rent. A separate entry states that £54-9-9 was received "from John Winter for Turf for the Year 1826".^13,12 He was mentioned in 1828 as holding from 5 to 20 acres and therefore being entitled to one turf ticket.¹⁴ He was recorded in the Tithe Applotment Book of 1833 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, where he leased just over 27 acres¹⁵ at a rent of £39.^5,16

     John Winter is believed to have been born before 1744.² He is believed to have been married before 1765, although the identity of his wife is not known.³ There is no record of his death or burial, but he must have died sometime after 1785.
     John Winter was a Farmer. He was resident in 1785 in Ballintubber This is possibly the present-day townland of Ballintober, about 3 miles due east of Kilfinnane. The annual rent was £16 (Irish) or £14-15-4½ (British) payable half-yearly in May and November.⁴

He died in 1813 in Toor; Toor is a townland adjacent to Sunville Upper and Fanningstown.¹ He was buried on 6 November 1813 in Kilfinane Church of Ireland; described as "John Winter junior of Tour" in burial entry.¹

     Susan Winter, daughter of John Winter and (-) (-), was born before 1813. She married Ambrose Bishop on 2 February 1837 in Kilflyn Church of Ireland, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹

     Thomas Winter, son of John Winter, was born before 1789.
     The only record of Thomas is in the baptismal entry for his daughter Anne. It is assumed that he is the son of the John Winter b. bef. 1744 on the basis of consistency in dates and location, although there is no documentary evidence for this relationship.

     Andrew Winters, son of Thomas Winters and Jane Chapman, was born on 8 April 1829 in Co. Limerick, Ireland.² He married Mary Jenkins, daughter of Robert Jenkins, on 24 January 1856 in Church of St Peter & St Paul (Church of Ireland), Co. Limerick.³ He married Rachael Mahoney, daughter of Thomas Mahoney and Margaret Naylor, on 18 February 1879 in Kilflyn Church of Ireland, Kilflyn, Co. Limerick, Ireland.⁴ He died on 27 November 1917 in Upper Sunville at age 88.⁵
     Andrew Winters was a Farmer. He was resident between 1856 and 1858 in Ballyheen, Upper Sunville, Limerick, Ireland. He was resident in 1860 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, The Valuation Lists show that he took over the farm of just over 28 acres at Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick in 1860, leased from Lord Ashtown, and he resided there until his death in 1917.⁶ He was the informant of the death of Mary Jenkins on 21 March 1877 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland; cause of death: aploplexy (3 days) uncertified no medical attendant.⁷ He was the informant of the death of Jane Chapman on 2 February 1884 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland; cause of death: debility from old age, uncertified no medical attendant.⁸ The lessor of the farm changed in 1894 to the Hon. Wm. Cosby Tench.⁶
     Andrew Winters appeared on the census of 4 April 1901 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland, in which he was described as Andrew Winters, head of family, Church Ireland, able to read & write, aged 71, a farmer, married, born in Co Limerick. He was enumerated with his wife Rachel (aged 42), son Joseph (aged 20), daughter Margaret (aged 19), son Edward (aged 13), son Francis (aged 11), Rose Winters (a boarder, aged 16), Thomas Winters (a visitor, aged 38, a boarding house keeper), and sister Elizabeth Dowling (aged 78). The house was no. 23 and described as 2nd class, with walls of stone, brick or concrete, roof of thatch, wood or other perishable material, with 5 or 6 rooms, 5 windows in front, and 5 rooms occupied by 9 people. It had 2 outbuildings. Andrew Winters was the landholder.⁹ He bought the farm in 1906 under the provisions of the Irish Land Purchase Act.⁶
     Andrew Winters appeared on the census of 1911 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland, in which he was described as Andrew Winters, head of family, Church of Ireland, able to read & write, aged 82, a farmer, married, born in Co Limerick. He was enumerated with his wife Rachel (aged 52), son Joseph (aged 30), and daughter Margaret (aged 29). The house was no. 21 and described as 2nd class, with walls of stone, brick or concrete, roof of thatch, wood or other perishable material, with 2, 3 or 4 rooms, 5 windows in front, and 3 rooms occupied by 4 people. It had 3 outbuildings. Andrew Winters was the landholder.¹⁰
      He left a will dated 17 September 1917 in which he left £80 each to his daughters Margaret and Georgina Jane; £50 each to his sons Frederick George, Edward Thomas and Francis William; £40 to the children of his then-deceased son Thomas Henry; £50 to be paid by his son Joseph to his son John and £50 to the 2 children of his then deceased son Robert Edward residing in Perth, in the event that his son Joseph should marry; £40 to his wife Rachel. He left £40 to have a plain headstone erected "one on the old churchyard and one on the new churchyard", with any money remaining to be added to his wife Rachel's portion. Revd. W R Keillor, Rector of Kilfinane Parish, was appointed Executor. The witnesses were William Young and William Reid Keillor Clk M.A. The Will makes no mention of sons William Andrew and Andrew Philip and daughter Susan.¹¹ The ownership of the farm at Upper Sunville passed to his son Joseph on his death.⁶

     Andrew Philip Winters, son of Andrew Winters and Mary Jenkins, was born on 16 March 1872.¹ He married Jeanie Redmond, daughter of Thomas Redmond and Ann (-), on 19 November 1904 in Michel, British Columbia, Canada.² He died on 3 November 1946 in Calgary, Canada, at age 74.
     Andrew Philip Winters emigrated in 1903; Canada from Ireland.³ He was a Railway employee in 1904.² He was a Clerk at the Michel Coal Mine in 1911.³ He was resident in 1911 in Michel Township, Kootenay, British Columbia, Canada.³

     Anne Winters, daughter of Thomas Winters, was born in 1810. She was baptized on 13 May 1810 in Kilflyn Parish Church, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹

     Brian George Winters, son of George Francis Winters and Evelyn Maud Barrer, was born on 17 February 1946 in Carlton Lodge Maternity Home, Leeds Road, Harrogate, England. He was christened in St Mark's Church, Harrogate, England. He died in 1993.

     Caroline Maud Winters, daughter of Thomas Henry Winters and Jane Waddell, was born on 1 March 1901 in 44 Haddington Road, Dublin, Ireland.³ She married Frederick Alexander Walters in 1922.^4,5
     Caroline Maud Winters appeared on the census of 5 April 1901 in the household of Thomas Henry Winters in Haddington Road, Dublin, Ireland, in which she was described as Caroline Maud Winters, daughter, Church of Ireland, aged 1 month, female, born in City of Dublin.² She was resident circa 1970 in 82 Northumberland Road, Dublin 4, Ireland.⁶

     Edward Winters, son of Andrew Winters and Rachael Mahoney, was born on 30 January 1886 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland; Jane Ormston present at birth.² He died on 13 July 1887 in Upper Sunville at age 1; cause of death: mesenteric disease some months, pneumonia 7 days certified.³ He was buried on 11 July 1887 in Kilfinane, Co. Limerick, Ireland.⁴
     According to the Winters family bible, Edward died 9 Jul 1887, which is actually more consistent with burial date of 11 July than the certfied date.

     Edward Thomas Winters, son of Andrew Winters and Rachael Mahoney, was born on 10 March 1888 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹ He married Sarah Frances Meredith, daughter of Thomas Meredith and Rebecca Strong, on 22 April 1914 in Parish Church of St Michael (Church of Ireland), Athy.² He died on 21 February 1966 in London, England, at age 77.
     Edward Thomas Winters was a Transport Manager. He appeared on the census of 4 April 1901 in the household of Andrew Winters in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland, in which he was described as Edward Winters, son, Church Ireland, able to read & write, aged 13, a scholar, not married, born in Co Limerick.³ He was a Salesman between 1914 and 1917.^4,5 He was resident between 1914 and 1917 in St. Michael's Terrace, Athy, Co. Kildare, Ireland.^4,5 He was resident in February 1941 in 'Winterville', Taylor's Hill, Galway.⁶

     Elizabeth Winters, daughter of Thomas Winters and Jane Chapman, was born on 11 December 1821 in Co. Limerick, Ireland.² She married Thomas Dowling, son of John Dowling, on 19 February 1849; the witnesses were Thomas Fitzgerald and Thomas Winter Junr.³ She died on 20 February 1903 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, at age 81; Cause of death: senile decay. No medical attendant.^1,4
     Elizabeth Winters appeared on the census of 4 April 1901 in the household of Andrew Winters in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland, in which she was described as Elizabeth Dowling, sister, Church Ireland, able to read & write, aged 78, widow, born in Co Limerick.⁵

     Francis William Winters, son of Andrew Winters and Rachael Mahoney, was born on 27 May 1889 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland. He married Sarah Purser on 2 November 1921 in St. James's Church, Sussex Gardens, Paddington, London, England.¹ He died on 15 June 1966 in 25 Marshfield Road, Alcombe, Minehead, Somerset, England, at age 77.¹
     Francis William Winters was a Gardener. He appeared on the census of 4 April 1901 in the household of Andrew Winters in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland, in which he was described as Francis Winters, son, Church Ireland, able to read & write, aged 11, a scholar, not married, born in Co Limerick.² He began military service in 1914 with the Royal Field Artillery. He was awarded the Military Medal during the 1914-18 war.¹ He had met Sarah while working on the estate of the Marquis of Waterford at Curraghmore, where her family were also employed.¹ During WWII he served in the Civil Defence and was in charge of the grounds of Lord Southwood of Fernhurst at Marley Heights.¹ He was resident after 1954 in Alcombe, Minehead.¹ No children.

     Frederick George Winters, son of Andrew Winters and Rachael Mahoney, was born on 25 July 1883 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland. He married Elizabeth Jane Schumacher, daughter of William Schumacher, on 23 June 1910 in St. George's, Drumcondra, Dublin, Ireland; witnesses Charles Naughton and Dorothea Naughton.² He died on 3 August 1970 in Toronto, Canada, at age 87.
     Frederick George Winters was a Grocer's Assistant in 1910.² He was living 12 Hartstonge St., Limerick, Ireland at the time of his marriage in 1910.² He and Elizabeth Jane Schumacher emigrated on 13 April 1912. They sailed from Liverpool aboard the White Star Dominion Laurentic bound for Portland USA and disembarked at Halifax, Nova Scotia.³ He was resident circa 1970 in Rosebank Nursing Home, 534 Rodd Avenue, West Hill, Ontario, Canada, (the current 2006 name and address is Rosebank Villa Retirement Residence, 534 Rodd Avenue, Pickering, Ontario).⁴

     George Francis Winters, son of Edward Thomas Winters and Sarah Frances Meredith, was born on 8 June 1917 in St. Michael's Terrace, Athy, Co. Kildare, Ireland.¹ He married Evelyn Maud Barrer, daughter of George Barrer and Vera Eleanor Beatty, on 14 June 1941 in Harrogate, England. He and Evelyn Maud Barrer were engaged on 19 February 1941.² He died on 22 May 1977 in Gateshead, England, at age 59.
     George Francis Winters was educated between 1934 and 1938 in University College Galway, National University of Ireland. He graduated on 27 October 1939 in University College Galway as Bachelor of Engineering. He emigrated in January 1940 to England. He was employed by Sir Lindsay Parkinson & Co. Ltd as an assistant engineer in 1940 in Royal Ordnance Factory No. 6, Risley, Lancashire, England. He was employed by Messrs. George Wimpey & Co. Ltd. between October 1940 and January 1943. He began military service in January 1943 in the Airfield Construction Service of the Royal Air Force as a Commisioned Officer. He ended military service in December 1946. He was employed by County Borough of Gateshead as Senior Assistant Engineer to the Borough Engineer from 1946 to 1947.

     George Henry Winters, son of Thomas Henry Winters and Jane Waddell, was born in 1899 in Dublin, Ireland.¹

     Georgina Jane Winters, daughter of Andrew Winters and Rachael Mahoney, was born on 24 January 1885 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland.¹ She married George Francis Henderson on 11 February 1918. She died on 15 December 1961 in Upper Sunville, Co. Limerick, Ireland, at age 76. She was buried on 16 December 1961 in Kilfinane, Co. Limerick, Ireland.²
