Sligo. It had 1 outbuilding. The landholder was Lord Ashtown.

She appeared on the census of 7 April 1911 in the household of Robert Sheirson in Woodlawn, Kilconnell Parish, Co. Galway, Ireland, in which she was described as Susan Sheirson, wife, Church of Ireland, able to read & write, aged 39, a Sub-Postmistress, born in Co. Sligo, married for 9 years, with 6 children born alive and still living.4,5

James Barrer was resident in 1843 in Duntryleague, Co Limerick, Ireland. He was living Dundrum, Co. Tipperary, Ireland at the time of his marriage in 1849. He was resident in 1864 in Gurtussa, Co. Tipperary, Ireland until his death in 1887.

Although we have no record of his baptism, James is believed to belong to this family group, as no other family is known that matches the details on his two marriage certificates of age, father and residence. The R.I.C. service records of his sons Thomas and John also mention family connections in Co. Limerick. He named his children in a very similar manner to his brother George, indicating that they both used the Irish naming convention.1

Galway WR, Ireland, on 12 September 1882. He was living Aranmore, Co. Galway, Ireland at the time of his marriage in 1889. He was transferred to Co. Tipperary NR, Ireland, on 14 November 1889. He was discharged from the Royal Irish Constabulary on 1 June 1907 after 25 years service, and received a pension.

He was enumerated in the 1911 census at Kilronan, Inishmore, Co. Galway, and described as a R.I.C Pensioner.

Note: on his birth certificate his mother’s name is Alice Godsell, not Anne, and the surname spelt as Barrar.3,4

Thomas Chard was the son of Richard Chard. He was a schoolmaster living in Baltimore, Co. Cork at the time of his marriage in 1851. He was enumerated in the 1911 census at Kilronan, Inishmore, and described as a Retired Grocer. A Margaret Payne Stewart was enumerated in the same household and described as a widow, aged 80, born in Co. Kerry.3,2
