     David French appeared on the census of 1911 in which he was described as David French, head, Church of Ireland, cannot read, aged 68, Farmer, single, born Co. Cavan. He was enumerated with Martha (mother, aged 103). The house had mud walls, thatched roof, 1 window in front, 2 rooms occupied, and no outbuildings. The landholder was David French.²

     A witness at his father's wedding was Courtney Tunbridge, which may be the origin of his middle name. He was a Policeman (R.I.C.).¹ He witnessed the marriage of Vera Eleanor Beatty and George Barrer on 9 June 1915 in Athenry Church of Ireland, Athenry, Co. Galway, Ireland.² He was living 38 Upper Cranbrook Road, Bristol, England at the time of his marriage in 1936.¹

Galway, Ireland.¹ She married Thomas Barrer, son of George Barrer and Eliza Mee, on 22 March 1886 in Ardnaree Church, Ardnaree, Cos. Mayo & Sligo, Ireland.² She died on 1 February 1940 in Compton Greenfield, England, at age 74. She was buried in All Saints Churchyard, Compton Greenfield, Gloucestershire, England.

He married Eliza Magee, daughter of William Magee, on 8 October 1860 in Church of Ireland, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, Ireland.² He died in September 1894 in Ardbear, Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland.¹ He was buried on 18 September 1894 in Omey Parish, Co. Galway, Ireland.¹
     Robert French was a Sergeant in the Royal Irish Constabulary between 1845 and 1877.³ He appeared on the census of 1841 in the household of Samuel French in Drumcrow, Killishandra Parish, Co. Cavan, Ireland, in which he was described as Robert French, son, male aged 15, not married, Farming, can read & write, born Co. Cavan.⁴ He began his service with the Royal Irish Constabulary on 12 May 1845 and was allocated to Co. Galway WR.³ He was living Clonbur, Ireland at the time of his marriage in 1860. He was discharged from the Royal Irish Constabulary on 1 September 1877.³ He was retired on 1 September 1877 with an annual pension of £71. He retired in West Connemara where he had spent much of his later R.I.C. career in locations such as Moyrus, Carna and Cleggan Quay.⁵ He was the informant of the birth of Frances Elizabeth Barrer on 5 March 1887 in Sunny Bank Cottage, Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland. He was the informant of the death of Arthur French on 17 September 1891 in Ardbear, Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland; Pthisis one week.⁶ He was the informant of the death of Alice Rebecca French on 8 December 1893 in Ardbear House, Clifden, Co. Galway, Ireland; Pthisis eleven months.⁷

He was enumerated with Ann French (wife) and Anna Ellis (step-daughter).² He was a Farmer in 1901.²
     Samuel French appeared on the census of June 1911 in Toledo Village, Kitley Township, Leeds District, Ontario, Canada, in which he was described as Samuel French, head, male aged 71, born March 1840 in Ireland, a Farmer, married, immigrated 1874, Canadian national, Methodist, can read & write. He was the sole person enumerated in the household, despite his entry stating that he was married.³

     William French appeared on the census of 1841 in Drumcrow, Killishandra Parish, Co. Cavan, Ireland, in which he was described as William French, male aged 30, head of family, married 1837, a Weaver, can read, b. Co. Cavan. He was enumerated with Martha (wife aged 22), Robert (son, aged 3) and Samuel (son, aged 4 months). Entries also given for Robert (father, died 1840 aged 84) and Richard (died 1840 aged 1 month).¹ The family of William is listed as an adjacent entry to that of Samuel's family on the 1841 Census. It is assumed that they are brothers and that Robert d. 1840 is named as the father of William is also the father of Samuel, despite 20 year's apparent age difference. This is supported by baptismal records of Samuel son of Robert and Jane.

Cavan, Ireland, in which he was described as William French, son, male aged 19, not married, a Farmer, can read & write, born Co. Cavan.¹ He was resident between 1856 and 1857 in Drumcrow South, Killeshandra Parish, Co. Cavan, Ireland.² It seems likely that this is the William French in Griffiths Valuation as the lessee (with a John Stewart) of 9-2-26 acres in Drumcrow South, Co. Cavan. It is Plot 16 on Ord. S. map 24 and the house is 16b. Presumably this is the plot leased by his father Samuel who was described as a farmer. Laois, Ireland, in which she was described as Charlotte Meredith, wife, Church of Ireland, can read & write, aged 60, born in Queen's Co, married for 40 years, with 6 children born and still living.³
