Biography

Robert Francis HEBBERT was born in 1883 in India.2 He and Maisie WESTMORLAND were married on 24 December 1914 in Ealing, St Stephen’s Church, London.3 He died on 19 March 1916, at age ~33, in Persian Gulf. He was buried in March 1916 in Basra War Cemetery.4
Robert Francis Hebbert entered Malvern School in September 1898. In the 1901 census he was enumerated in the household of his grandmother Catherine Dempster and Aunt Catherine E. Dempster at Glenthorne, West Road, Stoke Within, Surrey, along with his two sisters. After studying medicine at St Thomas’s Hospital he joined the Indian Medical Service in 1906. During WWI he served with the 107th Pioneers in France and latterly in the Persian Gulf, where he died of relapsing fever.5,1

Captain Francis Reginald Powell O’Callaghan was the son of Sir Francis Langford O’Callaghan and Anna Maria Mary Powell. He obtained his commission in 1900 and in 1903 took part in operations in Somaliland. In 1904 he was appointed as an instructor at the School of Military Engineering.3

Henry Thomas HEBBERT was born in 1837.2 He and Agnes GRAY were married on 26 September 1865 in Brighton, St Nicholas, Sussex.3 He died on 29 December 1867, at age ~30, in Kattywar, India.4
Henry Thomas Hebbert was the eldest son of Henry Hebbert. He joined the 17th Bombay Native Infantry in 1855 as Ensign, and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1857. Captain Hebbert was killed in action in a jungle fight with Wagheers in Kattywar.5,4

Jessie Chaloner SANDEMAN was born about 1849.2 She and William Stanley HEBBERT were married on 12 September 1877 in Hove Church, Brighton.1 She died on 23 November 1925, at age ~76, in London, 54 Bedford Gardens.3
Jessie Chaloner was the 2nd daughter of Captain F. Fraser Sandeman, of the 73rd Foot and granddaughter of the late William Crawshay of Caversham Park. She was enumerated in the 1911 Census of Ireland at Magheracar, Bundoran, Donegal and was described as an Artist (painter), married, aged 62. Her niece Winfred Beatrice Roome was enumerated in the same household, and was described as an Artist (painter), single, aged 35.2

David Richard Jones was the illegitimate son of Sir Horace David Cholwell St. Paul, 1st Bt., and Ann Isaacson. He changed his name in 1862 to St Paul. He was late of the 53rd Regiment at the time of his marriage to Sarah Hebbert. He was Deputy Lieutenant of Northamptonshire.2
